Obama's "Lipstick on a Pig"

Thanks Obama for spiking the traffic to my blog.

Sorry, political visitors, for disappointing you.

Oh - but before you go. If you're from the US, please think twice about voting in another Republican President. The present one seems awfully careless. Thanks!

New laws and acronyms of web design and development

As we've been rebuilding Channel4.com (not too long to go now!), we've come up with some useful new laws and acronyms that apply to web design and development projects. Here are a few of them:

1) HHCIB: how hard can it be? Usually uttered by senior managers more in hope than expectation. The answer is often "quite hard actually" and the conversation leads naturally on to "de-scoping".

2) HMDIM: how much does it matter? A useful one this, especially when applied as a curve-ball response to HHCIB. Surprising how often the answer is "not that much" ... and so disaster (or just a long series of meetings) is averted.

3) Law: In making UI / IA trade-offs, it is better to Disappoint than to Confuse. Keeps us all honest, focused on the principles and not the Awards.

Awards would be cool too though.
