Free 7-day catch-up on channel4.com

The wheels are starting to turn here at Channel4.com.

Whilst the 4oD growth continues unabated and the preparation for "Kangaroo" gathers pace, we have just this week soft-released a 7-day-catch-up service on Channel4.com. It's a simple service, rather buried in the archaic architecture of the current site and, for all sorts of very practical reasons, is limited in some predictable ways (Linux: no, Macs: no, must install WMP11).

However it is a confident step forward in the evolution of the C4.com product. Work is underway to look at the homepage and how we can move it slightly away from an editorial / promotional canvas toward being something that exposes the new underlying services (Clips being the other one, a comprehensive programme database being another that we're working on).

I am constantly mindful of the "fall forward fast" principle. It is all tempting (particularly in a broadcast-culturewhere nothing airs 'til it's complete) to try to perfect everything: the strategy, the product, the long-term plan but experience shows that online the best course of action for online success is ... action. And plenty of it.
